Objective:To evaluate the effects of super laser irradiation, methyl-prednisolone andtheir combination therapy in treating the sciatic nerve injury of rat, we hope toprovide experimental reference for the functional repair of peripheral nerve injury, and to provide a basis for the clinical treatment of such diseases.Methods:We used forty-eight Sprague-Dawley(SD)rats, between170and200gram, regardless female or male, which were divided into4groups(each group having12rat) randomly. we clamps the right sciatic nerve to make a sciatic injury model. The grouping design were as follows, Group A, the control group,no intervention were applied after operation; Group B, super laser irradiation group, the rats were exposed to super laser irradiation24h after operation, forten consecutive days; Group C, methyl prednisolone treatment group, immediately injecting methylprednisolone (Mp)15mg/kg, and then calculating a maintenance dose of2.5mg/kg/h for24-hour volume, carrying out the intramuscular injection by three installments, continuous application for ten days; Group D is thecombination therapy group, immediately giving methyl prednisolone after surgery, and giving super laser irradiation therapy from24h after surgery, the total treatment last for10days. We estimated the sciatic function index (SFI)10days,20days and30days after the treatment begin, respectively.30days after the treatment, we measured the gastrocnemius wet weight rate, counted the num ber of nerve axon and electron microscopy sciatic nerve images of ultrathin sectioning were taken and qualitatively analyzed.Results:SFI and gastrocnemius wet weight rate, axon counting and electron microscopy observation showed:1. group B,C,D had significant difference compared with group A in the reco-very of neuron function after crush injury (P<0.05);2. Group B and group C have no significant difference (P>0.05);3. Compared with groups B and C, Group D displayed no significant different-ce (P>0.05).Conclusion:1. The super laser irradiation can improve the repairation of rat sciatic nerveafter injury.2. The methyl prednisolone can improve the repairation of rat sciatic nerveafter injury.3. The super laser irradiation combined with methyl prednisolone therapy treat-ed on rat sciatic nerve injury has no better effect than the independent useof each strategy...
