Through field sampling and laboratory analysis, the relationships between soil physical and chemical character and vegetation characters were researched in alpine meadow in Maqu county,Gansu Province. The main results are as follows:1. As the increasing of zokor density, soil hardness, soil bulk density decreased, while soil water content increased significantly. The first factors mentioned showed negative correlations, and the latter showed positive correlation.2. Zokor density correlated positively with soil organic matter and soil total nitrogen content, but did not correlated with soil pH.3. There were positive relationship between zokor density and plant species richness and plant height. With the increasing of zokor density, grass numbers, sedges numbers showed a trend of decline, while forbs showed a trend of rising.4. Plateau zokor density increased with the increase of plant belowground biomass, and there was a significantly positive relationship between them. Plateau zokor density, however, decreased with the increase of plant aboveground biomass, and there was a significantly negative relationship.
