Wheat production is very important to our country’s grain production, however, stripe rust is always the considerable factor that limits the wheat yield in our country. With the sustaining appearance of the new Puccinia striiformis races, the resistance tostripe rust is gradually losing in wheat. So, it is one of the important goals of wheatbreeding to increase the resistance to stipe rust in cultivated wheat.New materials with resistance to stipe rust could be gained by crossing betweencommon wheat and octoploid triticale, which is resistant to this disease. The methodsof morphology, cytology, SEM and stripe rust resistance identification were used toidentify the derived lines HB2011031, which was from the common wheat andoctoploid triticale hybrid progenies. And based on this results, the derived linesHB2011031which is resistant to stripe rust was used to cross with the common wheatcutivals in Jidong region, and the progeny were chosen primitively, which could laya foundation for making better use of the derived lines HB2011031with resistancet tostripe rust. The detailed results were as follows:1. The results of morphological identification showed that the spikelet numberand flag leaf width of the germplasm lines HB2011031were semblable to the maleparent; Ear length and flag leaf length were longer than male parent while shorterthan female parent; Floret number per ear was clear to both parents, Plant height wasclose to female parent.2. The results of cytological identification demonstated that the chromosomenumber in root tip of germplasm lines HB2011031was44; The chromosomeconfiguration in pollen cell maiosis metaphaseⅠ(PMCMⅠ) was2n=22II, whichdirected that the derived lines HB2011031was addition line.3. SEM identification results showed that pollen grain size of germplasm linesHB2011031was smaller than both parents; The germ pore was nearly circular andsimilar to the characteristics of parents; Germplasm lines HB2011031has stomatalapparatus, long cell and hair cell; Leaf surface and pole shape size were clear to male parent.4. Stripe rust resistance identification confirmed that: The reaction type ofgermplasm lines HB2011031is0;~1, high resistant to stripe rust, while the commonwheat, the one parent, had no resistance to stripe rust, which meat that the resistantgene inherited from octoploid triticale.5. The hybrid combinations had been made using the germplasm linesHB2011031and other breeding materials and gained offspring, which laid afoundation for further choosing the materials with wheat strip rust resistance.
