Eulaliopsis binata (Retz.) C.E Hubbard is a kind of plant, which belongs to Gramineae, Subfam Panicoideae. Trib.Andropogoneae Dumort. Subtrib.saccharinae Griseb. and Eulaliopsis Honda. E. binata is also known as Sedge, Eulaliopsis, Eriophorum, chinensis or mountain blades of grass, and its low cost of cultivation as well as its role in relieving soil erosion will contribute to considerable economic benefits.such as social and ecological ones.Based on wild germplasm resources(population) of E. binata collected from20counties in9provinces of China, this essay has compared its agronomic traits with photosynthetic charactistics in E. binata populations, and the whole process has been conducted in a relatively consistent environment:plot and field experiment. In addition, a comparison has been made towards the photosynthetic characteristics of20E. binata populations in the period of rapid growth. The morphological and anatomical indicators are observed by means of Scanning electron microscopy (SEM)just to name ripe leaf epidermal hair and stomatal morphology. Meanwhile, indicators of photosynthetic physiology, leaf anatomical characters and of adaptability have all been analyzed. Therefore, this research is going to bring forth a theoretical basis for adopting reasonable cultivating techniques of E. binata, raising new kinds of E. binata selectively, carrying out surveys on its resistance and finally for developing the industry of E. binata. And the following are cardinal conclusions of this research.1. There are no obvious differences among heading stage, florescence, maturation period, the length as well as the color of seeds and other agronomic traits. Significant differences, however, do exist between the height and tiller numbers of plants. It turns out that the highest populations are located in HeChi, a province in GuangXi, and the strongest tillering populations in LianZhou, a province in GuangDong.2. The selected20populations of E. binata have extremely remarkable differences not only in leaf photosynthesis among the net photosynthetic rate (Pn), stomatal conductance (Gs), transpiration rate (Tr), intercellular CO2concentration (Ci), water use efficiency (WUE) and photosynthetic performance parameter, but also in the parameters of photosynthesis in leaf chlorophyllA, chlorophyllB, the carotenoid content, chlorophyllA+B, chlorophyllA/B and the parameters of photosynthesis, which are all get in an obvious level. There are various differences in photosynthetic performance parameter of Pn,Gs,Tr,Ci and WUE from different degrees and characters between themselves. According to the genetic distance as15,20E. binata populations can be divided into4kinds. As far as the comprehensive grades of leaf photosynthetic function are concerned, it is proved that Hunan Cili, Hubei Yunxian and Henan Xixia are the best germplasm resources to breed new kinds of E. binata. In terms of the demand of breeding for high photosynthetic efficiency, the populations of Hunan Cili and Hubei Danjiang which are classified into the third class are the best germplasm resource of E. binata available. Followed are the populations in Hubei Yunxian and Hubei Danjiang, which again lie in the second class.3.20wild E. binata pollutions form a series of adaptive structures during the long course of natural selection, morphological and anatomical features of20wild E. binata all have different degrees of variation, among whi ch the fibroblast exhibits the most remarkable difference. Moreover, the research has suggested that the diame ter of the maximum tube of Guangxi Tiandong population is the longest; the cavity wall and the factor of rigid ity in Guizhou Xingyi population is the biggest, while the ratio of slenderness in Guangxi Liucheng populatio n is the biggest, Guizhou Anlong population boasts the highest altitude with a stomatal frequency of up to802.10/mm2,which is obviously higher than that of other populations, and the area of Hubei Yunxi poputation is th e hugest. When the genetic distance is15,20E. binata populations can be divided into4kinds. In terms of the demand of breeding for the optimal paper material and by evaluating fiber length, length-width ratio as well as ratio of cell wall to cavity,Guangxi Liucheng population, which is classified into the second class is the favora ble material for pulping and papermaking as well as fiberboard production. Given the feature mentioned abov e, Yunnan Yuanmou population, which belongs to the fourth class comes next and the worst performance belon gs to the population of the first class and the third class.
