Rice production mechanization is an important part of agricultural modernization realization. As a major rice producing areas, Southern hilly region have much slope and those paddy field which have the deep mud is small. So developing a harvesting machinery which has small volume, light weight, flexible steering, and good quality of harvest cost-effective is very necessary.After analyzed the structure characteristics and the problems existing in the use of the existing rice harvest machinery used in the southern region. This topic developed a Miniature rice harvester which is suitable for the southern hilly region.For the southern specific work environment, this study adopts a special arrangement plan about the general structure, At the same time, the machinery have been devided into seven modules based on the idea of modular design, cutting, threshing, screening and transporting, running, control, power. Harvesting module and threshing module are the core modules of the machine. Cutting module adopts spiral reciprocating cutter, bottom assembled knife had been designed innovative, which not only ensured the cutting quality but also simplified the structure of the cutter. Threshing module used the structure of the nail tooth cylinder and concave plate matched the mesh, which achieved the good effect of threshing.Papers finished the modal analysis for the threshing cylinder which is the core component of harvester. It got the natural frequency of the threshing roller device and its dangerous speed range; The second, it found some parts which had lager deformation and preliminary verified the rationality of structure design. The third, it can save cost for the prototype test and shorten product development cycle.Applying ANSYS Workbench platform simulates the force situation of the variety of working conditions, the strength and stiffness requirements of the push conveyor are checked.This topic developed to a rice harvester which adapted to the southern hilly region by combining traditional experience and modern design method, the machine has the characteristics of the light structure and reliable work, so it will be have strong practical value.
