In order to understand the protection situation of swine PRRS vaccine in Shandong province and guiding the reasonable usage of vaccines, in the spring and autumn2010,3981pig sera were collected from282pig farms including the large-scale pig farms, commercial pig farms, small pig farms and slaughterhouse herds in17cities of Shandong province, and the PRRS antibody was detected by ELISA. The results showed that the immune effect of PRRS vaccine in the breeding pig farms in different regions of Shandong province is best, the individual positive rate of antibody was85.55%, and is as high as92.77%in the fall. While the prevention effect of other herds were poor, with individual antibody-positive rate of70.70%to slaughterhouse herds,68.46%to commercial farms and61.02%to small pig farms. The results show that the feeding and management of vaccine and epidemic prevention aspects of the breeding pig farms was far better than other farms, which was consistent with the actual production of pig industry. The PRRS vaccine displayed greatly significant differences in immune effect in Shandong province. On the overall, the protective effect of attenuated vaccine is better than that of inactivated vaccine.
