Paulownia flower is the flower of Paulownia, and it’s been used as medicine andforage since ancient times. According to recent studies it has bent found that there aremany active ingredients at higher levels in it, which means a wide range ofapplications in medicine. Paulownia flower was used as raw material in this paper toexplore the optimum conditions of ultrasonic-assisted ethanol paulownia flowerflavonoids extraction, the effects of paulownia flower powder and its crude extracts ongrowth performance, slaughter performance and meat quality of broiler chicken. Allthe above are of important practical significance on the full development andutilization of the paulownia flowers.Single factor test, the impacts of the extraction temperature, ultrasonic time,solid-liquid ratio and ethanol concentration on the paulownia flower Flavonoidsextraction were measured. L9(34) orthogonal experiment was designed, to explore theoptimum conditions of ultrasonic-assisted ethanol paulownia flower flavonoidsextraction. According the results, the order of the effects of various factors onpaulownia flower extraction is ethanol concentration> extraction temperature>solid-liquid ratio> ultrasonic time; the optimum extraction conditions are70%ethanolconcentration,80°C extraction temperature,1:15solid-liquid ratio,25min ultrasonicextraction, under which the extraction of total flavonoids was6.51%.3601-day-old AA broilers were randomly divided into four groups, with eachgroup of three repeats, and30broilers in each repeat. The first group was fed the basaldiet as a control group, the other three test groups’ basal diet were mixed with0.4%Paulownia pollen,0.2%and0.4%crude paulownia flowers flavonoids respectively.After42d, broiler growth performance, slaughter performance and meat quality weremeasured. As the results show, compared with the control group the high-dosegroup’s average daily increment improved by9.09%(P <0.05), the original powdergroup and low dose group had no significant difference with the control group (P> 0.05). Compared with the control group the feed conversion ratio(FCR) of high dosegroup decreased by7.48%(P <0.05), while the original powder group and low dosegroup had no significant difference (P>0.05). High dose group’s half evisceratedyield and eviscerated yield was increased by5.43%and5.34%respectively (P <0.05),while in the the original powder group and low dose group the difference was notsignificant (P>0.05). Breast muscle rate, which is with no big difference in theoriginal powder group, the low-dose group and the control group, of the high-dosegroup was larger than that in the control group by4.15%(P <0.05). Muscle rate of thehigh-dose group and legs rate of the low-dose group increased by9.96%and5.60%respectively. And there’s no significant difference in the original powder group. The shear force of the high-dose group and low dose group were reduced by7.66%and4.75%respectively(P <0.05), while the other groups had no significant difference(P>0.05). The water holding capacity of the high-dose group and low dose groupincreased by6.13%and4.91%respectively, compared with the control group (P<0.05), with no big difference in the original powder group (P>0.05). In summary, description diets of Paulownia pollen and paulownia flavone crude extract couldimprove growth performance, slaughter performance and meat quality of broilers.
