Abstract/Summary:
In order to research the most appropriate stocking rate which conducting grazingmanagement on Kikuyu grass and white clover grassland. The duration of test is fromMarch1,2012to October1,2012. Test site: the beef cattle breeding farm of YunnanAcedemy of Grassland and Animal Science in Xiaoshao. Study object:12-month to18-month ages BMY breeding cows whose conditions are relatively consistent. Westudied different grazing intensity(Heavy:18heads, total weight:6103kg, averageweight:339.1kg, convert into0.75head cattle unit; Moderate:12heads, totalweight:4055kg, average weight:337.9kg, convert into0.74head cattle unit; Slight:6heads, total weight:2026kg, average weight:331.7kg, convert into0.73head cattle unit;)of the influence on grassland plant community, underground biomass and soil. The testprovides reference basis for this type of degradation, improving grass-livestock grazingeconomic management efficiency.Main research results are as follows:1Increasing with the strength of the grazing pressure, the grassland vegetationchanges significantly, overground and underground biomass decreased obviously, the plant height and coverage is on the decline, but the descend range is not big; From thepoint of view on the underground biomass vertical distribution, each process aredecreased with the increase of soil depth, the underground biomass under heavy grazingreduced more significantly, as the influence of the soil layer deepen grazing intensity alsogradually reduced.2Under grazing intensity in the pastoral areas of overground biomass, plant height,coverage and frequency are more better than light grazing and heavy grazing; Total trendis rest grazing>moderate grazing> light grazing> heavy grazing.3Overground and underground biomass, plant height, coverage overall showed: aftercontinuous rest grazing recovery two months area is significantly higher than rest grazingone month area; after rest grazing, its overall recovery size is severe> moderate> light.4Grazing intensity mainly affects the grassland soil surface water content (0to10cm). The grass surface soil water content is high in the early stage of grazing, reduceafter grazing; but the soil bulk density change is on the opposite.These results suggest that the light and moderate grazing could stimulate foragegrowth, improve grassland primary productivity, moderate grazing improving soilphysical and chemical properties, severe grazing is not conducive to grassland vegetationgrowth and keep the soil properties. In production practice, determining the appropriategrazing intensity is very important, therefore, in combination with the practice and theory,ecological benefits and economic benefits, in considering grazing rate, should be at amoderate grazing intensity is advisable.
