With the continuous improvement of people’s living standards, more and more dogs fed as human companion animals, various dog’s diseases especially the tumors are on the rise. The mammary tumor which is not only a serious threat to the health of pet dog, but also great impacts to the life of dog’s owner, is a regular disease of pet dog. The cause of canine mammary tumors, the nature of the tumor tissue as well as diagnostic and therapeutic methods are all similar to human breast tumor. Therefore, the dogs of naturally occurring mammary tumors have become the best animal model for the study of human breast tumors. In this study, through collecting clinical cases of canine mammary tumors, investigating the disease history, observing clinical symptoms and recording the treatment process, we obtained the complete informations of15cases of canine mammary tumors. First, we analyzed the relations between mammary tumors and dog’s age, breed, reproductive status, diets and hormone levels et al, then observed the tumor tissue samples with histopathology, and analyzed the ER, PR and p53expression in mammary tumor tissues through immunofluorescence method. The results as follows:1. The mammary tumor cases mainly appeared in Pekingese dog, Shih Tzu and German Shepherd dog, the average onset age was about10-year-old, the dogs that have never birthed and have not implemented sterilization and had history of false pregnancy prone to the disease, dogs whose diet to meat-based had a higher prevalence, canine mammary tumors occurred mainly in the single mammary area of caudal abdomen and groin.2. The malignant mammary tumors accounted for33.3%(5cases), benign mammary tumors possessed66.7%(10cases), and invasive ductal carcinoma was the most common type of malignant mammary tumor, fibroadenoma and benign mixed tumor were the common benign mammary tumor. Through Immunofluorescence staining method, we used rabbit anti-human monoclonal antibodies ER, rabbit anti-human monoclonal antibodies PR and rabbit anti-human monoclonal antibodies p53to mark the specific protein in mammary tumor, differentiated benign or malignant tumor and made prognostic evaluation. The results showed that these antibodies could have specific immune response with canine mammary tumor tissue, ER and PR were sensitive markers of epithelial cells of tumor tissue. p53expressed specificity in benign and malignant mammary tumor tissue, and had strong sensitivity for the identification of benign and malignant mammary tumors, so it could be used as one indication in the judgment of different nature mammary tumors.
