Femoral head resection is a surgical operation method which formated a false joint in the hip surrounding with muscle, ligament and tendon after completely removing the necrotic femoral head and neck. In the clinical treatment, femoral head resection was suitable for symptoms, such as aseptic necrosis of femoral head, unable to repair the fractures of femoral head and acetabulum, easy to recurrent dislocation of hip joint,Severe hip dysplasia and so on.One canine femoral head necrosis, one cat femoral neck and acetabulum fractures, one Canine hip dislocation were selected and diagnosed through clinical examination, blood test, serum biochemistry inspection and radiographic inspection.Through the operation risk assessment, all the three cases were treated with femoral head resection. Through careful postoperative nursing and rehabilitation training, the three cases were followed up to observe postoperative recovery to evaluate the effect of surgical methods and collect clinical records, preparing for a case report. All the three cases had good prognosis, they were all removed stitches around10days after surgery, and walked freely one month postoperatively, and they were able to do a bit violent sports like running and jumping three months postoperatively. The investigation of three clinical cases of femoral head resection and related literature research, demonstrated that resection of the femoral head and femoral neck are effective in alleviating pain and restoring their normal activities. Our collection and summary of clinical cases provide corresponding clinical experience to veterrians.
