Steppe of Mongolia Plateau is important ecological types of abdominal continental temperate climate zone in Asia. Since ancient times, nomadic peoples breed in steppe by traditional nomadic ways, and they are good to keep the ecological balance of steppe. It has practical significance to the development of grassland science that study on the scientific principles and ecological adaptability of nomadic peoples how to protection steppe and harmony development with nature. For establish and improve scientific evaluation method of grassland degradation, and explore the scientific principles of nomadic protection. We study on effects of steppe biodiversity on different using types in Kherlen river basin of Mongolian Plateau and the reason of vegetation degradation. The main findings are as follows:1. Using the Vegetation degradation index (VDI) and the richness index to evaluated the effects of different using types on vegetation characteristics and plant diversity of Steppe in the Kherlen river basin across China and Mongolia. The differences of vegetation degradation ware significant between3different using types:The vegetation height and cover degree show:FSNG (Mongolia)>CP(Inner Mongolia)> TSRG (Inner Mongolia)>SG2(Mongolia)>SG1(Inner Mongolia).In two countries studies consistently show:long-term settled grazing and overgrazing could lead to significant degradation of grassland. Early vegetation degradation is mainly embodied in the aspect of average height and average coverage of vegetation. Late vegetation degradation is mainly embodied in proportion to the perennial plant species decreased, annual percentage increase.2.Comparative study on plant nutrition results show that in different using ways sample area, total N, P, K content of plant have significant difference. Total N content in order to:SG1>SG2> TSRG>CP> FSNG; Total P and K in order are:FSNG> TSRG> SG; Plant pigment content determination results showed:The cartooned contents and chlorophyll contents have a significant difference, Total order are:FSNG> TSRG> SG.3.Comparative study results on the soil nutrient composition showed:the water content, organic matter content, soil total N, total P had a differences significant in the soil. Sort:FSNG>CP>TSRG>SG2>SG1; And soil total K content was not significantly different, distribution is no obvious regularity.4. Evaluation of Grassland health system we mainly uses the ecological methods. The parameters of grassland degradation level have:the vegetation cover, biodiversity and perennials percentage.In different land use patterns plots,the vegetation degradation evaluation results show a very significant difference. Vegetation important value sort:FSNG (Mongolia)>CP> TSRG (Inner Mongolia)>SG2(Mongolia)>SG1(Inner Mongolia).
