OsMADS5belongs to SEPALLATA (SEP) gene family, while the SEP family of gene function did not get in-depth study. Sequence analysis showed that osmads5-3is a T-DNA insertion into the seventh exon of OsMADS5. Morphological observation showed that osmads5-3of the lemma, palea, lodicules, carpel were normal. Only anthers are slightly curved.To better understand the function of OsMADS5in rice flower development,we constructed double mutant osmads1-z osmads5-3, osmads5-3osmads34-1and triple mutant osmads1-z osmads5-3osmads34-1and analyzed the spikelet phenotype of these single,double and triple mutant in detail.We find that the gene OsMADS5is important to rice flower development, particularly required for lodicule, stamen and capel development. However, OsMADS5and OsMADS34exist functional redundancy.Analyzed the triple mutant show that OsMADSl, OsMADS5and OsMADS34Together determine stamen and carpel correctly initialization Meanwhile,we analyze the interaction of the MADS-box protein in detail. In general, Heterodimer formation of the OsMADS5and OsMADS34,OsMADS7andOsMADS34,OsMADS8andOsMADS34, OsMADS5and OsMADS2,OsMADS2and OsMADS34, OsMADS3and OsMADS34.OsMADS1/OsMADS5gene duplication event occurred at the base of grasses and the gene paralogs OsMADS1/OsMADS5have subsequently been particially subfunctionalized among grass species, detailed analysis its sequences we find C domain of OsMADS5is very short, presumably C domain may play an important role in subfunctionalization.we exchange the C domain of OsMADSl/OsMADS5, rescued osmadsl by transgene.When the C domain of OsMADS5instead of OsMADS1, osmadsl cannot rescue.
