Oligostachyum oedogonatum is a bamboo with high economic and ecological value. In thispaper, the growth regularity in shooting period, underground rhizome-root system, culm framestructure, biomass allocation and model of Oligostachyum oedogonatum in Zhouning County,Fujian were studied by statistics in botanic, ecologic and soil science approach. The purpose is toprovide a theoretical basis and information for resource of Oligostachyum oedogonatum, andenrich the research contents of biological characters of Oligostachyum oedogonatum. The mainresults were as follows:1、The shoot emergence of Oligostachyum oedogonatum began from mid-April and lastedabout45days. A few shoots emerged at the preliminary stage of shooting. This situation lastedabout3days, and the shooting quantity accounted for7.42%of the total shooting quantity, Themost shoots emerged at the prosperous stage of shooting. This situation lasted about15days andthe shooting quantity accounted for77.48%. The shoots emerged at the later stage of shootinglasted about27days and the shooting quantity accounted for15.10%. Insect hazard was the mostimportant factor of shoot degradation and the degraded shoot quantity accounted for73.78%. Theaverage rate of bamboo shoot becoming young bamboo was64.03%.The height growth of allcohorts fitted to the sigmoid curve, which can be well described by Logistic equation, and theinflexion appearing time of each curve was the key growth period. The culms of the earliercohorts were constantly higher than that of the later ones.2、By the method of layered mining, the rhizome and root system of Oligostachyumoedogonatum were studied. The results showed that age structure of rhizomes of study site wasolivary,81%of the rhizomes were strong rhizome, the age structure of rhizome was reasonable.84%of the rhizomes and90%of the roots distributed in the depth of0~10cm of the soil layerand young and strong rhizomes tended to distributed in the shallow soil; The buds mainlydistributing at the strong rhizomes were strong bud and winter shoot,46%of the buds at theyoung rhizomes were weak bud and65%of the buds at the old rhizomes were decayed bud. Inorder to develop the growth of rhizome and yield of the shoots, we should better manage the soillayer of0~10cm, protect the young and healthy rhizome, weed out the old rhizomes and rootsreasonably.3、We sampled201standard bamboos with various classes of Oligostachyum oedogonatumin the sample plots. Characteristics and relationship among DBH, total length, culm height, wallthickness, and internode length were measured and analyzed. The results showed that thecorrelation of DBH and the other culm characteristic factors, culm height, culm weight and wholenode reached significant level, which mostly well estimated by power function. The longestinternode of Oligostachyum oedogonatum was at about5thinternode. The bamboo internodelength varied with a trend as “short—long—short”.4、The standing crop of Oligostachyum oedogonatum was6157.32g/m2. Water content was the highest in rhizome, while it was the least in the root. The order of the biomass of differentfractions was that roots>stems>rhizomes>leaves>staps>branches, the order of biomass ofdifferent age class was that2-year bamboos>3-year ones>1-year ones. The correlation betweenthe biomass of every organ and base diameter, height and clear bole height reached significantlevel. The relationship could be well explained by Y=aDbHcwhich could be used for forecastingbiomass of Oligostachyum oedogonatum in some site condition.
