A Research On Guidelines For University Campus Planning In China Based On Pattern Language

Over the past decade, our country accelerate the pace of the development of theconstruction of colleges and universities for the national development strategy perspective,the construction of the University has achieved relatively generous funding and policy support.A number of top-level universities have been built through the “211Project” and “985project”. And many campus have widespread taken on a new look, but there is still a gapcompared with the world-class university. Specific performances are the assimilation oncampus featuring construction and the general lack of campus characteristics, ignoring itsown campus development background, geography, traditional culture, social environment andother factors.Meanwhile, as environmental issues have become increasingly prominent in the globalscope, the concept of sustainable development is also gradually penetrated into theuniversities’ campus planning strategies. Under the guidance of the new college constructionconcept, we need instructive methods to guide our nation’s campus planning to cater touniversity campus trend of the times. Pattern Language as an organic system, concise researchmethods have been used in various fields of computer, interface, game development,architectural design, etc., and have experience in campus planning. It has a great researchvalue for the construction of characteristics, organic, cultural, humanistic university campus.Therefore, the intention of this paper is to research a series of design guidelines of universitycampus planning with the patterns of language, and meanwhile holding the purpose ofbuilding character, organic, culture and sustainable development objectives campus.First of all, the content in Chapter2have defined the concept of “Pattern Language” andstudied its characteristics and its advantages in the application of university campus planning,obtained a method of applying pattern language in the university campus planning. Then isthe core chapter of this paper--the Chapter3, Chapter4. Under the guidance of “patternlanguage”, the two chapters analyze various types of campus planning factors,study all kindsof elements involved in campus planning issues, and give relevant examples and experiencesin domestic and foreign campus planning. In Chapter3, the paper focuses on the control ofcampus planning, campus district, campus structure, campus dynamic traffic, static traffic,street and building scale models under the guidance of the language design guidelines (mode),In Chapter4, the paper focuses on the layout of campus building and streets, campus district,building scale, as well as the teaching area, living area, sports area design guidelines.
