Many modern cities began constructing railroads in a period when trains were the mainmethod of transportation. However, with continuous expansion of cities, the city centers havebeen severely fragmented by railways. This paper, from the perspective of urban design reasons, shows that the method ofThree-Dimensional Railway Design in Urban Centers will fundamentally solve the problems.Based on a large number of stereoscopic analysis and conclusions about Three-DimensionalDesign of Railway, the article sums up the design trends and applies them to the constructionof the Beijing railway, providing conceptual design for renovation of its feasibility. This paper is divided into five parts:Part one is the introduction that claims the positive significance of this study under thebackground of the insolvable conflicts between cities and railways. It also contains a briefsummary about previous studies in this topic, including a study on the methods andframeworks.Part two introduces the development background of Three-Dimensional Railroad Designin Urban Centers, pointing out that design is becoming a trend and a way to resolve conflictsbetween cities and railways.Part three, four and five are the main parts of the thesis, taking the Beijing-section ofBeijing-Baotou Railway as an example, which is based on field research, feasibility analysisand conceptual design, giving further support and perspective in this thesis. Finally, according to the previous part, we obtained the three-dimensional design trend ofthe area along the railway and conceptual design plan for the railway towards Beijing ofBeijing-Baotou railway, with a feasible strategy.
