The oil exploitation technology of progressing cavity pump as a new artificial lifttechnology, the scale of PCP in oil fields has expanded year by year. But the oil facilitiesshould be more efficient and more energy saving, uneven thickness stator bushing ofgeneral PCP was the key factor which restricted its development. Therefore, the iso-wallthickness PCP was designed and manufactured. The iso-wall thickness PCP at work, thestress and strain of the stator affects the work performance of the pump, directly restrictsthe service life of the pump. Meanwhile, there is no effective means to directly test on thestress and strain of the PCP’s stator under the existing conditions. Therefore, this paperwas used the finite element method to study the stress and strain of the iso-wall thicknessPCP’s stator.According to the working principle of PCP and nonlinear FEM, contrasting thetechnical characteristic of the general PCP, the characteristics of the iso-wall thicknessPCP was analyzed form the aspect of the stator structure and production process, the statordeformation under the pressure, the contact condition between the rotor, breakdownpressure and volumetric efficiency, sealing performance and the distribution oftemperature field. The analysis software of FEM is used to study the stress and strain of theiso-wall thickness PCP’s stator under the effect of liquid pressure, the fixed contactingbetween the pump barrel and bushing was considered. The stress and strain of the statorwas constrictive analyzed when the displacement constraints applied in the pump barrelouter and bushing outer. The new method of even thickness stator was obtained in theanalysis of high precision circumstances. At the same time a discussion that how modulusof elasticity and Poisson’s ratio because of the bushing material different affect thedeformation and shear strain of the iso-wall thickness PCP’s stator is made. A discussionthat how the thickness of the rubber bushing affect the stress stated of the iso-wallthickness PCP’s stator is made. At last, the method of FEM is used to study the stress andstrain of the iso-wall thickness PCP’s stator when in contact with the rotor. The stress and strain of the iso-wall thickness PCP’s stator when in contact with the rotor was constrictiveanalyzed under the influence of different pressure.Through this research, the characteristic of the iso-wall thickness PCP was made moreclearly. A discussion that the FEM is used to study the stress and strain of the iso-wallthickness should be feasible. A discussion that the FEM is used to study the stress andstrain of the iso-wall thickness should be feasible. At the same time the stress stated andstrain characteristic of the iso-wall thickness PCP’s stator was discussed. A solidfoundation that the stator of PCP was reasonably designed combined with the actualworking condition was provided.
