With rapid growth of the economy and people’s pursuit for Higher level of material and cultural life, Space grid structure is widely used, because we have highly industrialized production system to product this structure’parts.and it’s structural performance is good,it’s exterior is very BeautifulToday,engineer usually use space truss structure design software to finish their works,because building the spatial structure model is very time consuming,and the calculation process is very complex.In our country almost all software widely used for the design of space truss structure can complete rapid modeling for standard forms structure.like square pyramid structure and so on.But all truss structure design software can’t complete rapid modeling for space grid structure which have arbitrary shape upper surface.In this case, engineer have to build model by them self.This process take engineer most of the time and energy.It is easy to get wrong during this process.In this paper,Grid Method, which is usually used in finite element mesh generation, is now applied for rapid modeling of arbitrary polygon Grid Structure,and it’s function is realized in SPASCAD (the software of space modeling)by the developing of program:The engineer only selects the beginning edges of polygons and determines orientation of Grid.The software can automatic forming the model of plate space frame.The basic element of plate space frame includes Square pyramid and Triangular pyramid. The software can greatly improve the engineer’s efficiency, This work just is preliminary research for the Rapid modeling of irregular grids., structures, and more development is needed to continue.Optimization design is a important part of the design of space grid structure。The existing space truss structure design software can do full-stress optimization design for structural members, but it can’t optimize the structure height. Engineer always use their design experience to determine the high the structure,and this height usually isn’t the optimal value in theoryIn this paper,analysis the limitations of optimization theory is analysed when it is used in practical engineering. Propose a solution by analyzing the calculation data of square pyramid structure.The solution is:Through comparing the calculated results of arbitrary polygon grid structure,we can achieve the optimization of truss height.This solution is also considering the usability and the practical engineering needed.
