Being as energy source of FSE racing car, the power battery has a significant impact on the durability, security and stability of the FSE racing car. As the key problems such as high temperature and poor stability occurred frequently in the first FSE car, the battery cooling system is researched in this paper urgently. This paper was written based on the national creation project "Research and Development of FSE electric car in Guangdong University". In accordance with the2012FSE rules, FSE rules were applied to the design of battery pack, researching on the increase of temperature for battery cooling system by using ANSYS software during the research, the battery pack thermal simulation and optimization were conducted and reach2013battery program, at last the two batteries were tested and compared, this paper mainly contains the following researches:(1)According to FSE rules, a design method for FSE car battery thermal management system was proposed, which introduces the battery selection, battery packs and battery design parameters arranged in groups method, the potential problem of high temperature of battery was analyzed qualitatively.(2)Using ANSYS for FSE racing battery pack thermal simulation analysis in different currents, when the single cell gap and the convective heat transfer coefficient by Finite Element Method (FEM), the results verified the correctness of the conclusion of qualitative analysis, which provides a quantitative basis for optimizing the battery cooling system.(3)Optimized battery by Multi-Goal Driven Optimization(GDO),by adopting the way of forcing to transfer convection heat, selecting the cylindrical monomer battery, change the gap between cells, to optimize the battery arrangement, a set of solutions was put forward, combined with the operation condition of FSE racing car, Temperature field was simulated and tested, the results show that the highest temperature of the battery after optimization is reduced by9degrees compared with the battery before optimization, and there is no problems occurred by temperature rise in practical application Focusing on the high temperature and poor stability of FSE racing car battery, this paper take battery cooling system as a research target, the work improved the battery of the FSE racing car effectively, which provides some theoretical basis for the future design of FSE racing car.
