Quadratic Boost converter using only one switch tube can be realized the voltage gain related to the square of duty cycle and widen the input voltage range of switching DC-DC converter, which makes it have broad application prospect in new energy application. The quadratic Boost converter is utilized to realize PFC in this paper. The quadratic CCM-CCM Boost PFC converter and quadratic DCM-DCM Boost PFC converter are studied.According to the operation modes of inductor current, quadratic boost converter can be divided into four different working areas. This paper focus on the study of quadratic CCM-CCM boost PFC converter and DCM-DCM boost PFC converter. The state space equivalent models of the two converters are established. The working areas of quadratic Boost converter are also divided. This provides a theoretical guidance for the parameter design of the converter.The principle of quadratic CCM-CCM boost PFC converter is analyzed in detail. The average current mode control of quadratic CCM-CCM boost PFC converter is studied. The input inductor current ripple and the change of duty cycle are studied. Compared with traditional CCM boost PFC converter, quadratic CCM-CCM boost PFC converter can reduce the input inductor current ripple, that would help to design EMI filter, and the duty cycle is smaller, that would reduced to decrease the controller design difficulty.The principle of quadratic DCM-DCM boost PFC converter is analyzed in detail. The single voltage control loop of quadratic DCM-DCM boost PFC converter is studied. The output voltage ripple, peak input inductor current and dynamic performance of output voltage are studied. Compared with traditional DCM boost PFC converter, quadratic DCM-DCM boost PFC converter can obviously reduce the second-order line frequency ripple of output voltage and the peak current of input inductor. It can also decrease output voltage overshoot/undershoot and dynamic response speed during transient.The correctness of theoretical analysis is validated by simulations and experiments.
