The New Tubular Roof (NTR) method is applied in Xinle Ruin Station, Shenyang2nd Metro Line. As a new type of tunneling construction technology, this method based on the existed foreign technology, cater for the project’s demand and domestic equipment abilities, which enrich the tunneling technology.Based on the design and construction of Xinle Ruin Station of Shenyang Metro, this paper in order to reviews the background of using the NTR method, analyses its advantages over other methods, shows its system results, just as design method, construction organization and quality control.By means of describing the main construction process in construction of the air passages and the main structure of the station,which section are rectangle and arch, discussing the mechanical model in stress analysis, reseaching the results of mechanical calculation. This paper has introduced the design principle and engineering measures of water-proof, then introduced the design of monitoring and information feedback of tunneling, including the data analysis.When the station was in construction, two sheids tunneled through the station for tunneling two intervals without halt. This construction organization rescued the deadline of the whole project, at the same time opening up a new way of long distance tunneling for shield. This paper analysed the items of construction process which is unique to the NTR method, then proposed the inspection standard to control the qualities, which is very important for the method’s spread.According to analysis of the NTR method, there are several remarkable characteristics and advantages:the structure is more powerful to restrict the ground’s settlement; the mechanical properties of tunnel construction materials could play sufficiently; the large-scale construction machinery could operate easily to show their capacity during the construction; less drainage while lowering of groundwater; be propitious to construction organization. The NTR method has the feature of scalability and flexibility, could be a platform to take other technique measure, in order to build challenging underground project.
