Gas Insulated Switchgear equipment has the advantage about space small size, high reliability, long maintenance cycle. It’s widely used in high-voltage power transmission systems urban supply, power plants. When GIS internal insulation defect exists, causing local field distortion, resulting in partial discharge.GIS partial discharge cause long-term deterioration of insulation defects and gradually expanded, eventually leading to the entire insulation breakdown, affect the safe operation of electrical equipment.Without power in GIS, without departing from the system, does not affect the operation of the cases, the use of technical means timely troubleshooting. Before GIS equipment localized initial discharge has not been formed throughout the defect, to the point of failure to effectively locate and repair and replacement, reliability has very important significance for improving the operation of the device.1, commonly used to assess the advantages and disadvantages and applicability of partial discharge detection method, a set of partial discharge from a general survey to pinpoint the source of the diagnostic process.2, based on the electromagnetic wave attenuation characteristics of the field test and ultrasound delay software simulation studies to verify the correctness of the projected delay PD source localization theory.3, the method is applied to engineering practice, GIS substation in Shenzhen successfully detected a number of partial discharge defects, verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. This paper presents a systematic method of partial discharge test, operation and maintenance personnel to effectively help find GIS substation PD internal defects, both good value, but also the maintenance and condition monitoring of smart grid provide theoretical support for GIS-line monitoring.
