Taoist Philosophical Thought And Theoretical Research On Interioe Design

Starting from researching relevant theories and understanding aesthetics of Taoist philosophical thoughts, as well as the recognition on cosmology of "Taoism generates the universe" and methodology of "the Taoist way follows nature", this topic shall analyze interior design from the angle of interior design method, hoping to find the common points of Taoist philosophical thought and design method. In addition, it shall summarize and conclude the laws and design methods in generality of the two, provide new perspective, and guide the development of interior design in future under Taoist thought.By introducing philosophical concepts such as "the Taoist way follows nature" and "natural inaction" in Taoist thoughts, the author’s design inspiration was stimulated, design thought was transformed, and "naturally" design concept was proposed. This paper tried to find out a design method that not only respects tradition and native culture, but also can meet practical needs of people.As this paper had broad topic selection, and there are lots of literatures researching Taoist thoughts, if there is no a better entry point, it is likely to follow the herd. Therefore, how to select entry point of this paper seems to be particularly important. Knowledge starts with practice, large amounts of practice on interior design is the premise of conducting research on theoretical system of interior design. Theory with guiding significance must be originated from large amounts of practice and various problems occurred in large amounts of practice processes, as well as from conclusion and summarization on obtained success and experienced failure. However, methods for resolving problems have become the bridge between theory and practice. Therefore, taking research dimension of methodology thought and research method of artistic aesthetics as entry point, this paper fundamentally resolved concrete problems involved in nowadays interior design such as "design what" and "how to apply", thereby embodying the subtle guiding role of Taoist philosophy to interior design.
