Research Of Chinese Contemporary Large-Scale Theater Seating Design

In the1990s, the construction of Chinese large-scale theater has entered a new high tide. Seating design is a very important part of a theatre audience hall design, at the same time it is closely related to the atmosphere creating of a performance and the overall impression of a theater. The seating design of a Chinese contemporary large-scale theater audience hall presents new seating design styles which more abundant and vivid than ever as the transition of theaters from economic and adaptive to professional and artistic.The paper reviews the history of the domestic and foreign theatric seating design according to time sequence. Besides, architectural design data and ergonomical theories which related to seating design is also collected in. It summarizes the characteristic of the seating design of a Chinese contemporary large-scale theater.Secondly, it takes the Guangzhou Opera House, Wuhan Qintai Grand theatre and Hangzhou Grand Theatre as research objects to collect the primary data for seat design. A great deal of literatures which based on practical engineering is also gathered in these chapters. The Oslo Opera House and the New Marlowe Theatre are taken to be examples to analyze seat design.According to the research above, the last part of this article shows the analysis of seat design from the perspectives of seat arrangement and seat channel, distribution of seat, acoustic design for seat, view design for seat and comfort design for seat. At the end of the article, the diversification and individuation of seat distribution, the innovation and high efficiency of seat arrangement and the interaction and equality of atmosphere constructing are concluded based on the survey of large-scale theatre in China.
