At present, the vacuum preloading method has been widely uesd in engineeringof soft ground treating because of its low cost and high effciency. Compared toengineering practice, the theoretical study of vacuum pressure reinforced soft groundis lagging behind, which is restricting the vacuum proloading technology to furtherdevelop, so it need in-depth research.This paper will discuss in detail the analysis of vacuum preloading mechanismand soil constitutive model, and study the indoor experimental of vacuum preloading.Then ABAQUS which is a finite element software is used to establish and analyzes anumerical model for laboratory test. The main study contents and results of the paperare as follows:⑴A stress-strain relationship of soil under unconfined conditions has beenderived based on Cambridge model which is a soil constitutive model and theinterior test as a prototype. Then a formula of lateral displacement is obtainedaccording to this relationship.⑵The paper has done a vacuum preloading consolidation test withconsolidation test equipment which is independently developed by ourself, and thesoft soil is from Jinghai of Tianjin city. The test has two conditions, which one is notapplied heaping and the other applied, then collected the stage of the soil pore waterpressure and effective stress increment size under different vacuum. The paper alsocompared the physical and mecaanical properites of soil befor and after proloading.The stage colleceted in the experiment is used to analysis the reinforcement effect ofsoil under various load conditions and calculated the lateral displacement in theprocess of consolidation.⑶Using the finite element software—ABAQUS to built a numerical model forthe indoor test, and the results show that the software can be used in vacuumpreloading to analysis the pore water pressure and the effective stress value ofvariable size. It also can be used to validate and prediction in practical engineering.
