Because the increase of the city population and the limited land, more and more underground space are used. The underground space excavation will involved the excavation of foundation pit. As a result, it will bring a lot of deep excavations. So deep excavation problems are one of the important and difficult problems in the field of geotechnical engineering.Based on the background of Tianjin Binhai International Airport Transportation Center Project, this paper expounds the types of deep foundation pit and theory of deep foundation pit deformation. The main factors of deep foundation pit deformation are also talked. In addition, the excavation scheme(top down method) is also described in detail. Finally, according to the monitoring data and numerical simulation to study on deformation of foundation pit excavation.This paper gets the deformation curves of ground surface settlement, lateral displacement of wall, roof support force, axial force by field monitoring data. Then analysis the deformation characteristics of deep foundation pit. Finally, use the FLAC3D software to simulate the excavation process of the deep foundation pit to get the displacement deformation nephogram. Then use these to analysis deformation laws of deep excavation. Compare with the numerical simulation results and monitoring date, verified the theoretical results are in good agreement with the monitoring results. The research results can provide the references for the later project of deep foundation pit.
