StarRotor engine is on the basis of the brayton cycle, heat the air into the enginecombustor by using the energy from waste gas heat recovery based on thermodynamicsprinciple, it has many advantages such as high efficiency, high power density, low emissions,low maintenance, etc compared with the traditional engine. Aiming at the StarRotor engine,its expanding power internal meshing rotor expander and the heat exchanger utilized thewaste heat from exhaust to heat the air into the engine combustor are researched in this paper.The base problem of the StarRotor engine can be solved by designing the structure of keyparts and the cooling system of the internal meshing rotor expander, simulating and analyzingheat exchanger in series of the expander, accomplished preliminary design and performanceanalysis for the StarRotor engine.Based on the research target, firstly, the structure of key parts were designed in thispaper, the key components of the expander are inner and outer rotor, the key technology ismeshing between the internal and external rotor, so based on the requirements of the rotorexpander design, the profile and structural were designed and material was selected in thispaper.The design of the internal gear rotor expander cooling system design in this paper ismainly included the selection of the cooling liquid, cooling channel design and calculation ofthe cooling fluid flow, take advantage of the reasonable channel arrangement and the supplyof coolant flow, the temperature of the expander is controlled in appropriate range to ensurethe efficient and safe operation.The heat exchanger of StarRotor engine was designed in thispaper, choosing the tube and shell heat exchanger as the heat exchanger of the engine, thestructure of tube and shell, working medium were designed, simulated the tube and shell heatexchanger which was designed in this paper by using the Fluent software, analyzed its performance, results showed in this paper that the design of tube and shell heat exchangermeet the requirements.The expander of the StarRotor engine was designed in this paper, the design method ofcontour line and the cooling system were reached, designed and analyzed the heat exchangerof the StarRotor engine, designed a suitable heat exchanger of StarRotor engine, by the workabove, a solid theoretical basis was established for the StarRotor engine design andperformance analysis.
