Study On The Conservation Of The Character Of The ErDaoQiao Historic Block In Urumqi

Historic block which records the historical development of a city, and contains the rich cultural resources, is the important product in the process of urban development. The ErDaoQiao historical block has a long history of ethnic minority. A lot of historical buildings with national characteristics and traditional commercial styles, which reflect the city characteristics and regional culture in Urumqi. However, in the process of long-term development of ErDaoQiao, along with the increase in buildings, the complex of blocks structure, a lot of problems on the spatial structure and the function layout have arisen. Along with the development of the city and society, The ErDaoQiao block needs to enhance the vitality of block.Taking the ErDaoQiao historic block Urumqi as the research object, this paper is to keep characteristics of block and provide sustainable development, through multi-level and all-round investigation and study, this paper concludes a strategy about how to protect the character of the ErDaoQiao historic block. This paper mainly studies on the following three aspects:First of all, this paper defines the related concepts of the protection of the historic character, and explains the classification and characteristics of historic block, through the study of the organic renewal theory, the energy theory, and the sustainable development theory, based on the analysis of Xi’ an North Gate and the case of Shanghai Xintiandi, the study provides the theory basis for protecting the historic character of the ErDaoQiao block.Secondly, this paper elaborates overview of the ErDaoQiao historic block from the block location, history, population composition, multiculturalism, and so on. Based on the investigation and study, this paper analyses the block overall layout, system of streets, architecture style, and so on, exploring the existing problems which the ErDaoQiao block obtains.Finally, according to the theoretical study and field investigation information, this paper explores the goal and the principle of protection of the historic character, providing the proposed countermeasures for the healthy development of the ErDaoQiao historic block.
