The comfort and safty of passengers can be affected by the air quality in an aircraft cabin, the transport of air pollutants in the crowded cabin can lead to life-threatening condition in passengers. Numerical simulation method is used in this article to simulate the propagation law of sudden particulate pollutants. In the article, a civil aircraft cabin is set as a research object. In order to simulate the temperature fields, flow field and the positive propagation and back-propagation of particulate pollutants, computational fluid dynamics are used to build the theoretical model and fluent software is used at the same time. Compare the impacts of different air supply modes(ceiling air supply, underfloor air supply, replacement air supply), different positions of pollutant sources on the propagation law of particulate pollutants.Firstly, the advantages and disadvantages of the three air supply modes are analyzed and compared by analyzing the temperature fields and flow field of different conditions. Thermal load is calculated to selecte different inlet air velocities and different inlet air temperatures, therefore four kinds of conditions for each air supply mode can be provided. The optimum conditions for each air supply mode which conformed to the comfortable degree of human body can be choosed by simulating thermal environment in the aircraft cabin and analyzing the temperature fields and flow field of different conditions. After that, the merits and demerits of the optimum conditions will be summarized and analyzed.Secondly, the propagation law of particulate pollutants in the cabin is studied. The propagation law of particulate pollutants in the three air supply modes is simulated by choosing two positions where the air flow slower to be the positions of pollutant sources to ensure the particles remain in the cabin for a relatively longer time. Analyze the change of particle concentration and the spreading scope, observe the concentrations distributions at different time to ensure the most numbers of passengers who are under threat of particulate pollutants can be acquired. After that, the merits and demerits of three air supply modes in reducing the range of particulate pollutants spread and shorting the time of particulate pollutants spread will be obviously obtained. Finally, in order to trace the positions of pollutant sources in the cabin, the initial time and concentrations distributions of back-propagation of particulate pollutants in different air supply modes must be determined which based on the results of positive propagation law of particulate pollutants.By comparing the the trajectory of propagation and back-propagation of particulate pollutants, the positions of pollutant sources are found. The merits and demerits of three air supply modes in finding the positions of pollutant sources will be compared.
