Abstract/Summary:
In the area of electrical insulation, electrical aging in polymer has been a hotspot.Electroluminescence (EL) is an effective means to study the injection, storage andtransportation of space charge in polymer. And that EL attracts numerous scienceresearchers’ attention. However the molecular structure in polymer is complex,which leads to the complexity of the EL phenomenon and theory. Scientists proposedifferent measuring methods and theories. On the other hand, space charge limitedcurrent can characterize the aging in polymer, so the combination of EL and spacecharge measurement is widely used.This article describes a design of electroluminescence measurement systembased on PI-MAX ICCD and Acton SP2300spectrograph which produced byPrinceton Instruments. Besides, this system also includes the sample chamber,vacuum system, temperature-controlled equipment, electrical power unit andprotection circuit. Tests of noise, spectrum test and shooting test are carried out,which proved this system can make the acquisition of light signal under high electricfield.In addition, the space charge limited current automatic measuring system isdesigned based on the device of EL. Its software is designed by using MFC,including software protection to ensure the safety of equipments. This system meetsthe condition of variable temperature. Tests confirm that this system can meet therequirement of space charge limited current. Moreover, it can fulfill real-timeacquisition of micro-current.In this paper, PET is tested by the method of EL and space charge limited current.The EL experiment is under high voltage of square wave. Results show thatluminescence time is0.5ms after rising edge or falling edge, luminescence thresholdis100kV/mm, and the peak of spectrum is at403nm,464nm,516nm,578nm,663nm and748nm respectively. The space charge limited current experiment is underHVDC which shows the turning point of Ohmic region and space charge limitedcurrent region is75kV/mm.
