Common rail camshaft is one of inner key parts of the common rail fuel injection pump, which drives the entire process of oil absorption and oil supply. The quality of cam processing and molding plays a crucial role in the performance of entire oil supply system. Thus, the common rail camshaft’s design and parts process have been attached great importance. Reasonable camshaft process technology ensures well performance, reliability and security of common rail fuel injection pump. Therefore, this paper mainly describes the tests and research of common rail camshaft process. And we analyze the problems of the high processing cost of CNP2.2Common rail camshaft’s cam surface (concave arc), the low production efficiency and grinding. The work done is as follows:Firstly, this text introduces the development of the diesel engine fuel injection pump, its function and the principle of the high-pressure common rail fuel injection system. Also it describes the structure, role and working principle of CPN2.2common rail camshaft. Then it raises questions existing in the process of common rail camshaft. In terms of material, main processing procedure, accuracy requirements and design principles, the rational process arrangements of common rail camshaft is put out. In addition, we make reasonable choices about common-rail camshaft machining equipment and its accessories.Then, it does some tests and researches on the improvement of the Common Rail camshaft milling process, through the enterprise’s CNC machine tools and the related testing means. By improvements of CPN2.2common rail camshaft milling process, it uses450milling cutter to pre-milling, which leaves allowance. Then it uses Φ120facing cutter to finish milling. It re-designs and manufactures cutter-head. By using a new blade, all milling parameters have been tested in order to increase tool durability and reduce the processing cost of common rail camshaft.Finally, the author analyzes the reasons why the cam surface is easy to produce burns, cracks and other defects, which provides a theoretical basis for the practical solutions to common rail camshaft burns and crack problems.This paper studies the tests and improvements of CPN2.2common rail camshaft machining process, which analyzes the reasons why the cam surface is easy to produce burns, cracks and other defects. Through theoretical analysis and experimental research, problems of high processing cost and low yield during common rail camshaft actual production have been finally solved.
