Along with the development of our country’s bridges construction, concrete tied arch bridge has been used widely for its beautiful shape, light structure, small building height, great spanning ability and good adaptability to the geological conditions.During the design of the concrete tied arch bridge, the factors that you need considering contain the curve of arch, the size of section, the tension of steeve as well as the height and prestress of the team. It’s the final pursuit of the designers to make the result reasonable, security and economy by adjusting some parameters. Because of the coupling,influence and restriction of parameters,designers can only calculate for limited times and by very simple adjustment according to the existing result to get a better goal. So the level of the project depends on the designers and even a high-level designer can not find a very suitable project because of no excellent standard.Now, the general approach to solve the problem is to use the optimization theory. The predecessors have maken a few achievement without considering the stability of arch bridge and the size of the beam, so the result is unilateral. Especially, the result has no meaning if no considering the stability.On the basis of the achievements of predecessors, the size of beam and the stability of bridge is considered to make the optimization closer to the practical level. Such works was done:(1) Set the optimization model of the concrete tied arch bridge, which optimization variables is the curve of arch, the size of arch and beam, the section and tension of steeve and the prestress. The constraint conditions are the displacement, the stress and the stability of the bridge, at the same time, the objective function is the cost of this construction.(2) use FORTRAN language to create a system of procedures used to calculate the optimization model of this article. Using this system, we can achieve the analysis of concrete tied arch bridge. We can use ANSYS as a part of this system. We can also achieve the analysis of elastic stability by using ANSYS while under the control of APDL language. Then we can complete the optimization solution finally. (3) In this paper it solves the optimization model by the optimization method MPOP. The paper investigates and verifies the applicability of the method of this optimization model.(4) Through the comparison of the optimal solution and the original proposal, we find that the optimal solution is more reasonable. It brings28.63%of the cost savings. Validated, we find that this program model is appropriate and more reasonable. We can save a lot of money by using this program. The procedures can be directly used in design work while the visualization capabilities are completed.
