Road sign recognition system is one of the hot research field in current vehicleelectronic system. It has the broad development prospects in the intelligent transportation andauxiliary driving. So it has great practical value and significance of the road sign recognitionsystem.The road sign recognition system is consist of the image acquisition, imagepreprocessing, road sign detection and segmentation, the main module of road signrecognition etc. Based on the analysis of the related theory on recognition algorithm, aimingat the speed limit traffic signs in real-time and accuracy of this research object and systemrequirements, compared with the detection and recognition algorithm of system developmentis proposed, the software design was realized, after transplanting algorithm on the hardwareplatform, debug the recognition system.The main content of this paper includes as following:The recognition system theory was researched,through the analysis of the proposedalgorithm in this paper the development and application of system theory. Recognitionalgorithm through MATLAB simulation, to demonstrate the feasibility of algorithm. Thepaper introduces briefly the OMAP3530hardware structure and advantages, to give reasonsfor selecting the chip, and discusses how to build suitable for embedded Linux operatingsystem of the platform. The paper programmes a set of road sign recognition system,including image acquisition module, road sign detection and segmentation module, road signrecognition output module. And they successfully pass the cross compile ported toOMAP3530development board.The paper finally summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of the system, andgives the direction of future research about the system.
