With the rapid development of the science and technology and the national economy, theaircraft has being the necessary transport into people’s life, it has becoming a part of people’slife. Aircraft not only brings the convenient and comfortable life for people, but also brings acertain degree of risk, and flight safety awakens alarm all the time. Aircraft icing has severelyadverse effect on flight safety; it has become the important factor in endangering flight safety. When aircraft is flying in clouds, encountering icing meteorological conditions, iceaccretion may occur on exposed surface of the body of aircraft. There distribute thesuper-cooled droplets in clouds, when aircraft is flying in clouds with a high speed, it willimpinge those super-cooled droplets and destroy the original state of the super-cooled droplets.A part of the super-cooled droplets will instantly turned into small ice particles attaching tothe surface of airfoil. Aircraft icing is a complicated mass and energy transfer phenomena byevaporation, convection, friction, heat conduction, aerodynamic heating. This article describes the basic concepts of aircraft icing, and reviews the influence onaircraft flight performance and control performance. The flows of the airfoil were solved byFluent and a solving partial differential equations method for icing was developed. Dropletimpingement characteristics of airfoil were calculated based on the equations of particlemotion by the method of Runge-Kutta. A Messinger based icing model was established, andthe integral boundary layer method was used the calculation for heat transfer. A method toensure the type of icing was given. The icing processes on NACA0012in three typical conditions were simulated, and theresults of the article were compared with the results of the experiment, it has proved to beeffective and feasible for the article at last. The resulting influences of ice on airfoil werecalculated at the same time.
