The smoothing of Class A surface has great importance in auto-body surface reconstruction, how to improve the smoothing quality and efficiency attracts the attention of many scholars and researches around the world. Now the widely used Class A surface smoothing method is man-machine interactive method, it requires the operators have professional skills, so the efficiency is low. Some scholars recently put forward many automatic surface reverse methods based on scattered point cloud, and obtain many achievements, but there are still many problems need to be further optimized. In this paper, firstly, the automatic Class A surface reverse methods based on scattered point cloud were studied in detail, and then algorithm of Bezier interpolation surface was optimized, finally, an optimized automatic Class A surface reverse methods based on scattered point cloud was given.The major research contents of this essay are as follows:Firstly, parameterization of scattered point data was studied, base projection parameterization method was chosen, and an automatic determination method of optimal projection direction for given scattered point cloud was proposed. Some satisfying results were made by using minimum AABB bounding box to determine the projection direction.Secondly, a scattered point cloud curvature calculation method was given, it can directly calculate the curvature at each point. Influence of different curvature on the arrangement of surface control points and data points was analyzed, and an interpolating points determination method considering the surface curvature changes was given.Finally, the optimal projection and interpolating points determination methods were integrated into the Class A surface reverse design module, and embedded in the UG software based on the MFC development platform.Example validations indicate that, the proposed Class A surface reverse method based on scattered point cloud in this article, performs well in the smoothing of quadrilateral base surface and can increase the efficiency.
