| Tailings reservoirs are important technical facilities for mine production, as well asenvironmental protection facilities in case of ecological destruction and kinds of pollutionscaused by disorder emissions of the tailings. As a developed mining production country, thereare about12,000to15,000tailings reservoirs in China, accounting for more than half of totaltailings over the world. However, with the passage of time, the old tailings reservoirs built in1960s or1970s are at their late stages of service life, for they will reach the finalaccumulation elevation, so engineers face the problem that the convergence between the oldand new tailings reservoirs; while building new tailings reservoirs is a large project, whichasks for vast investment and long period of construction, and the process will greatly affectthe continuity of production. Therefore, the expansion and renovation of old tailings is anurgent task at present as well as an effective measure to meet the needs of mine production;on the other hand, tailings technology started late in China, theoretical studies have longlagged behind the engineering practice and tailings projects could not gain sufficient scientificguidance, so accidents frequently take place and result in extremely hazardous. Therefore,deepen the study of the tailings engineering theories, especially the theory about expansionand renovation project not only has academic value, but also can generate enormouseconomic and social benefits.Start from the instruction of tailings project and related basic theory, the existingtheoretical results and engineering experience are summarized, the basic characteristics of thetailings reservoirs are analyzed as well; around the core component of tailings system-tailingdam and drainage system, the tailings system stability theory research is conducted in threeaspects: the underground seepage field, the static stability and seismic dynamic stability. Forthe serious situation of multiple dam accident, the mechanism of dam failure is studied, anddam break model is given; Based on the data of2#tailings reservoir in Erdaogou gold mine, exploration experiment and numerical simulation are combined,so as to study the theoryabout stability of tailings system under the conditions of expansion and renovation project andthe feasibility of this project; in light of the new situation of the site conditions and thedynamic development of the tailings industry, the application value of on-line monitortechnology, as well as the data processing and rolling forecast model are researched. As aresult, favorable tools have been provided for the safety management of tailings reservoirs.This paper is based on the practice and aiming at severing the practice. It is hoped thatthe theoretical results achieves could provide scientific direction for engineering design andconstruction,then, hidden danger factors and security risks can be eliminated and thequality of projects can be guaranteed. Moreover, harmony between human beings and minewill realize, and the mining industry will get health, and sustainable development, either. |
