Permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSM) have the advantages of simple structure, small volume and high efficiency, it can achieve excellent control performance similar to DC motor with vector control or direct torque control. Modern power converter based on PWM technique has high power factor and low harmonics, and can operate in four quadrants. Hence, it enjoys more and more applications in PMSM drive systems. Hysteresis current control (HCC) and space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) are often used to control PMSM. Based on the traditional method of HCC, a new method is proposed in this paper to achieve HCC with two-phase chopping.In this dissertation, research on voltage-source PWM controller is reviewed, with the drawbacks of the existing control methods being highlighted. Then, purpose and main content of this research are described. The three-phase voltage-source PWM controller can operate in either rectifier mode or invert mode. Mathematic model of PWM converter is built in ABC-frame, αβ-frame and dq-frame, respectively. And then design criteria of the AC side inductance and DC side capacitor are investigated.Based on the traditional method of HCC for the voltage-source PWM inverter which has chopping on three phases, a new method is proposed to achieve HCC with two-phase chopping. The design idea and program flow of the new method is introduced, and then the effect of reducing switching loss and improving system efficiency is analyzed.Finally, the control model of PMSM with the above-mentioned control methods is conducted respectively in Matlab Simulink simulation software, and experimental results are presented, which verifying the proposed control method. And, their advantages and disadvantages are comparatively analyzed.
