In this paper, the author studies on the tow truck rear axle neck of the car which is a kind of typical long pole type forgings, the period of a large flange section brings great difficulties to the production of processing. Trailer axle neck of the car is commonly manufactured by cross wedge rolling technique, but the process has the largest diameter of0152mm deformation which causes the short of forming size and technical requirements. This paper studies closed forging process of the trailer car rear axle neck, the influence on forming of the different spacing between convex die and concave die is studied for the processing of closed forging. The non-deformation problem at the largest diameter of Φ152mm is eliminated when the spacing is0.5mm between convex die and concave die. In order to eliminate the defect of serious damage of flash burr to the die in the process of the closed die forging, the mixture of parting with small flash shunt structure is designed which is based on analysis of different form of shunt structure. And the defects of folding in the cylindrical blank direct forging forming process has been eliminated, metal is completely full in the biggest diameter of0152mm by pre-forging and two-step closed forging, the good forgings quality is obtained, and the rationality of the two-step forming technology was verified through the analysis of stress and wear of dies in the forming process by comparing one-step and two-step closed forging.
