Road-rail vehicle refers to a new type of special vehicle which can run both on the road and in the railway track. Equipped with dual on-board platform devices, the road-rail vehicle enjoys the unique advantages in such fields as fire protection and logistics transportation. On account of its great practicability and research status in China, it is of great necessity to conduct a study on the key technology of the road-rail vehicles and its application.Built on a summary of the current situation of the technology of shifting between the road and the rail of the vehicle at home and abroad, a new type of elevated device for road-rail vehicles is proposed and designed. In accordance with the requirements of the design, a brand-new theory on the elevated device is put forward along with its systematic components, which includes the rotating device, the transverse shifting device and the rail wheel system. After the accomplishment of the design, primary model selection and theoretical calculation and verification of the key parts in each system, three-dimensional models and virtual prototype models are built separately with the help of such software as Solidworks and Adams. On this basis, the dynamics simulation of models are conducted to obtain such data as stiffness value range of the damping spring in the rail wheel, which provides a basis for an accurate model selection of the damping spring and other parts. Moreover, statics analysis and modal analysis of the assemblies and parts are carried on with the utilization of Ansys Workbench to acquire the stress distribution of the slewing bearing and the linear guideway, which verifies that the intensity of major parts meets the requirement of the bearing capacity. Furthermore, the design of the elevated device for road-rail vehicles in this paper meets the operating requirement as well as lays a foundation for improving the technology of elevated device for special vehicles.
