Safety is the eternal subject in the process of vehicle development. Since over a century’s birth and development of the automobile, vehicle safety has been well concerned by automobile manufacturing enterprises, the automobile consumers as well as the governments. It is a rather complicated task to analyze the basic rules as well as the causes of the World Motor Vehicle Accident, for it not only includes the unsafe factors of vehicles, but other factors like the behavior of the people involved in the transport factors, road, weather, and other environmental factors should also be considered. All in all, the person, the vehicle, and the environment are the three major elements to affect the safety of vehicle driving, which constitutes an interactive engineering system and must be analyzed and studied comprehensively, so as to achieve the goal of safe operation of vehicles.From the focus of technology for vehicle safety, contemporary vehicle safety can be divided into two categories of active safety and passive safety. The active safety refers to the performance to prevent traffic accidents; while passive safety indicates that the vehicle itself has the performance to protect the passengers and pedestrians from being injured and thus reduce casualties in the traffic accidents. Many people including automotive consumers, automotive operating companies, automobile manufacturers and government, require that the future intelligent automobiles should possess both active safety and passive safety.This research intends to develop ECU Software and provide solutions for safe driver assistance through a combination of GPS positioning, the video image recognition of the vehicle, the driver’s fatigue state monitoring, safe driving theory, and the image of the long-distance transmission technologies. Its functions are as follows.1、Driving assistance:It can identity the traffic obstructions or pedestrians and prompt a warning notice; besides, it may inform the driver of the danger behind or in front while changing lanes;2、Reversing assistance:It can guide the driver how to reverse by the way of voice; 3、Fatigue monitoring:It can give a danger tip while driver feel tired;4、Illegal monitoring:It can prompt a warning when drivers don’t follow the traffic signs;5、Remote management:It can transmit the driving and location information to traffic management headquarters through remote communication (the transport companies often use the method).These driver assistance functions are not only the future trend of vehicle management, but also efficient and low-cost operation requirement.The specific methods are related to basic theoretical research, the vehicle software development method, the system requirement analysis, module design, database design, test methods, test data and results.
