Spatial load forecasting is the foundation of the urban power system planning, the accuracyof prediction directly impacts the rationality of investment, network layout and operation of urbanpower system planning. Therefore, the choice of appropriate spatial load forecasting methods toimprove the precision of the spatial load forecasting becomes an important research direction ofurban power system planning. In the process of urban power system planning, in order to select the capacity and position ofsubstation, feeder and switch more reasonably, not only to forecast the amount of load, more needto forecast its position. For the past spatial load forecasting is a single voltage level and ignore the relation betweenthe different voltage levels of the power load. Firstly urban power system power load is classifiedin this article, and further analyze characteristics of the electric power load and spatial electricpower load. Then, introduce the important tool and platform of spatial load forecasting, geographic information system, and analyze the application of geographic information system inspatial load forecasting. Subsequentlyput forword the concept of spatial load multilevelcoordinating based on multi-scale spatial resolution of electric load, expound a forecastingmethod of coordinating coefficient and verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the method basedon history data of city as an example. Finally, expound the relation between two levels and putforword the method of spatial load forecasting based on spatial load multilevel coordinating, combining with actual examples verifies the feasibility and practicability of the method.
