| With the rapid development of China’s automobile industry, competition amongautomobile companies is increasingly intense. The key to survival and development of anenterprise is shortening product development cycle, reducing development cost and improvingproduct quality. The traditional vehicle development model is not suitable for today’senvironment of high competition and short development cycle. A new managementmodel Simultaneous Engineering (SE) is gradually introduced to automobile industry and hasachieved fruitful results and benefitsThe BIW structure is studied in this paper using SE theory. To optimize the BIW structure,a detailed feasibility analysis of the manufacturing process is performed, especially on thewelding technology. Thus, it can optimize product processes during the design phase, shortenproduct development cycles and improve product quality.In order to optimize the welding process of the BIW structure, a comprehensiveunderstanding of the main BIW processing methods is very important. The commonprocessing methods used in the current mainstream automobile factories are introduced in thethird chapter, including the principles, parameters, equipments and other technology contentssuch as spot welding, projection welding, CO2welding, and stud welding. Classification andsummary are made on the basis of analytical methods and tools of the above process in orderto serve current research.The study takes the latest developed BIW in a certain automobile plant as the analysisobject. On the basis of SE theory, applying the relevant welding processes, the detailed SEprocess analysis of BIW is carried out on three aspects: the spot welding feasibility, RPSpositioning system and hemming technology feasibility of the opening and closing parts. Toensure the welding manufacturing feasibility during the design phase, in this paper, based on alarge number of typical examples, reasonable solutions of the structure optimization areproposed from the perspective of the welding process feasibility. Finally, the achievements aresummarized, which are obtained after SE process analysis from the design cycle time, cost,body precision and other aspects, indicating the significance of implementation of SE in thedevelopment of new vehicle. |
