This Paper discussed the background and connotation of the current low carbon economy, and analyzed the effect of co-generation of heat and power on the reduction of carbonemissions, to point out the new positioning and development orientation of the co-generationof heat and power during the process of energy saving and emission reduction. In China, thethermal power ratio and total thermal efficiency of co-generation were used to define theenergy saving and emission reduction indicators of the co-generation unit. According tovarious data of economic indicators related to the#2unit of Guangzhou WanglongPyroelectricity Ltd. in the actual production and operation, based on the first law and thesecond law of the thermodynamics, this Paper proved the following result through the datacollection and actual data upon calculation, by contrast of four conditions-pure condensingcondition,50t/h steam extraction condition,100t/h steam extraction condition and150t/hsteam extraction condition: The co-generation unit not only exerted the overall benefits of theurban centralized heat supply through the long distance centralized heat supply, but alsoreduced the pollution of the surrounding small boilers to the environment, which wasparticularly suitable for promotion and application of the heat supply in industrial park. Inaddition, the heat supply unit generated the incomparable economic benefits compare with thepure condensing generating unit, and the total thermal efficiency of co-generation of thecogeneration unit increased gradually with the increase in the heat supply.
