ABSTRACT:The problem of alleviating the shortage of energy sources as well as controlling emissions of pollutants produced by combustion is to be solved under the dual pressure of the energy crisis and serious environmental pollution. In view of this, a kind of synthetic fuel oil which can be used as industrial fuel was explored based on experiments, and also the process of combustion of this fuel was studied by the way of numerical simulation.Firstly, the preparation plan for synthetic fuel oil was determined by contrast experiments and thermal characteristics of the oil was studied, and then, experimental platform which was mainly formed of TH10S/M1was built and combustion experiment of synthetic fuel oil was done. According to the condition of the experiment, the mathematical and physical models were established based on reasonable assumptions. Finally, process of fuel combustion was simulated by the software Fluent. As results, temperature distribution and the concentration of NOx were obtained. The results were analyzed and compared with the experimental results. The main conclusions were as follows:(1) The preparation plan for synthetic fuel oil was as follows, with coal tar, waste machine oil and water as the basic raw materials, oil soluble additive was added to oil and water soluble additive was added to water with stirring. Finally fuel oil with good stability was got.(2) Viscosity test and thermal analysis experiment of this synthetic fuel oil were done, and then some parameters of the combustion characteristic were obtained by the experimental results, the activation energy of the synthetic fuel oil was obtained, which is71kJ/mol, showing that this kind of synthetic fuel oil has good combustion characteristics.(3) The result of combustion experiments showed that, the combustion was stabile without the phenomenon of fire-off. At the same time, content of NOx in the flue gas was detected, which showed that emission of NOx is conformed to the national standard.(4) The mathematical models were established according to the corresponding experimental condition, and then the temperature distribution and the distribution of NOx of the firebox were calculated using the simulation software Fluent, besides, the influence of flow of atomizing air and the preheating temperature of fuel to the emission characteristics of NOx was analyzed in particular.(5) Comparison between the result got by experiment and numerical simulation showed that, the relative error was less than10%, which was within the bounds. And also, the reliability of the model was proved.
