the high test condition of outdoor thermal performance test for solar collector is the difficulty in the research and development of solar collector. The paper aims to find a convenient simulation test method to determine the thermal performance of new flat-plate solar collector, avoiding the influence of weather condition in heat collector test and exploring a new way to test the thermal performance for this type of new flat-plate solar collector.Thermal model of new flat-plate solar collector is built in this paper. The heat transfer characteristics and heat loss of the new flat-plate solar collector is analysis. Energy equations of important heat conduct components are built.a test method for testing thermal performance indoor is put forward from the analysis of heat transfer characteristics and heat loss and the feasibility of indoor test by simulating solar energy is also analysis.Thermal performance test device is developed based on the indoor simulation test. General structure of indoor test device and the design of major components are introduced, so is the method to collect and test temperature. The compensation to correct indoor test results is analysis because of the differences between indoor test and outdoor test. A way to compensating the parameter of indoor test is given.Experiments of outdoor thermal performance test and indoor test thermal performance test for new flat-plate solar collectors are conducted., The efficiency equation of indoor test and outdoor test are identical By comparing the results of indoor test with that of outdoor test. Experimental results show that the results of indoor simulation test approximate the results of outdoor test, which prove that indoor thermal simulation test is feasible.
