Aircraft metal plate fatigue test has a very important significance for aircraft structuredesign. The tested data provided by Aircraft metal plate fatigue test can be used in the detaileddesign for the aircraft structure. And the performance of the structure and material for the keyelements could be tested by aircraft metal plate fatigue test, material selection and structuredesign of the key elements can also be verified by it. Currently the detection technique for thegrowth of aircraft metal plate crack is mainly depending on manual visual examinationwithout effective and intelligent method.In the paper a set of aircraft metal plate crack detection and monitoring software systemis designed which is composed of aircraft metal plate crack detection software platform andaircraft metal plate crack monitoring communication platform. This paper briefly introducesaircraft metal plate crack monitoring communication platform and mainly focus on aircraftmetal plate crack detection software platform and its algorithm realization. After imagehistogram equalization enhancement, Binary image is obtained by iterative adaptive algorithmand inter-frame difference based on SIFT (Scale Invariant Feature Transform) algorithm, theresults of the iterative adaptive algorithm are affirmed by inter-frame difference. The crack isidentified by using the breath-first search algorithm. And when the crack is identified, thesystem stores the crack information to SQL Server database. And Aircraft metal plate crackmonitoring communication platform system consists of the client, control and service terminal.Text and graphic communication are realized in this system, and plates designers and testassistant can remotely examine the situation of the aircraft metal plate fatigue test and thesoftware platform current running state for the aircraft metal plate crack detection.Administrators can also publish flies and relevant information by the system.Aircraft metal plate crack detection software platform uses SQL Server database to storedata and uses Visual C++as development tool. And aircraft metal plate crack detectioncommunication platform uses Microsoft Office Access2003database to store data and usesVisual Basic as development tool. This article gives the results of experiment and shows a testanalysis to the system by the field collecting crack images. Through the measurement andanalyses on the result, it is indicated that the system can effectively monitor and detect the aircraft metal plate crack.
