The high-performance ship complies with the trend of the development of theshipbuilding industry in the world today, for its outstanding sailing performance, strongcarrying capacity, comfort and economy, it’s favored by the research institutions around theworld. In these vessels, trimaran development by leaps and bounds, and it’s excellentperformance has been confirmed and recognized by a large number of research institutions,all kinds of trimaran design emergence continuous, as a new member of the trimaran,composite small water area trimaran has its own characteristic and will have a wonderfulfuture.In order to get both the speed and seakeeping advantage, composite small water areatrimaran is composited by the displacement trimaran and the small water area trimaran. Tothis new trimaran, further studies and resistance performance conclusion is inconclusive.Therefore, it has a great significance on researching the resistance performance characteristicsof the composite small water area trimaran and the impact of the different design to thevarious performance at the initial phaseThis paper use the CFD software STAR-CCM to simulate the viscous flow field of thecomposite small water area trimaran, explore the impact of the different composite programsto the resistance performance and the navigation attitude, and then by changing the layout ofthe side body, a total of10kinds of programs, discussed the resistance performance influencesof the longitudinal side body position and horizontal position, and through the free surfacewaveform change, analysis the rules of the midbody first wave to the speed. Finally, wecalculate the longitudianl movement of the small water area trimaran in head sea and regularwaves, made a preliminary exploration to its longitudinal motion performance.This study shows that appropriately adjusting the ramp angle of the upper part of thesubmerged body and the ratio of the long and short axis of the submerged body, making thecomposite midbody relative lanky can slightly reduce the resistance, and the relatively flatmidbody can slightly reduce the longitudinal movement amplitude. Changing the longitudinaland lateral position of the side body. At the low speed, the side body longitudinally arrangedin slightly on the main central area, lateral position appropriate outward offset; at the highspeed, the side body arranged in the main posterolateral. In the regular waves, the heave and pitch motion amplitude and the vertical acceleration of the small water area trimaran changedregularly with the ratio of the wavelength and the ship length increase, first increase and thendecrease, waves increased in the range of5%to10%fluctuations.
