CVT is short for Continuously Variable Transmission. Depending on its goodeconomy and power performance, Metal V-Belt CVT has became the one of the mostadvanced auto transmission at the present times. The core devices of Metal V-BeltCVT consist of primary pulley, secondary pulley, metal belt components. The workingcharacteristics of them will influence the whole performance of the transmission, so,the study of metal belt and pulley has strong theoretical and practical significance.Based on a domestic CVT, this paper mainly did the following research works:1. Read the related literature at home and abroad, summarized the research statusof Metal V-Belt CVT, pointed out the development prospect and trend of Metal V-BeltCVT.2. Based on the principle of structure and speed change mechanism of MetalV-Belt CVT, did kinematics analysis; established the geometric transmissionrelationship model; discussed the influencing factors of CVT speed ratio range.3. Through the force analysis of metal belt and pulley, deduced the calculationformulas of sheet metal thrust and tension of metal ring, providing a basis for theapplied load of belt wheel model and sheet metal model under different operatingconditions.4. Built the finite element analysis models of belt wheel and sheet metal using thefinite element analysis software ANSYS, on this basis, study the effects of the speedratio and clamping force on pulley deformation, obtained the pulley deformationmodel under different speed ratio and under different clamping force; compared thedeformation of fixed half and actuated half pulley; analyzed the stress distribution ofwheel shaft, found the weak link of wheel shaft; compared the finite element resultswith the experimental data, to some extent, verify the validity of the finite elementmodel and results.5. Based on the fatigue experiment results of metal belt, analyzed respectively thestrength of sheet metal and metal ring, and put forward the structure improvementmeasures; the simulation results consistent with the experimental results.
