Slab-column structure is a kind of structure that consists of plates and colunmns linked by nodes. It has been a century since slab-column structure was first designed. Along with the presentation of the equivalent frame method and the research of punching failure, some achievements have been made the study of slab-column structure and kept improving day by day. Despite the fact that plate-column structure has plenty of advantages, its generalization is hindered by the ambiguous understanding of its seismic behavior and economical performances. And few researches about the economical performances of slab-column structure has been made. Based on limitation above, researches focused on slab-column shear wall structure have been made by this paper.1. Large amount of frame construction buildings’data have been collected, a suitable case is selected as the main reference of this research. Referring to the code, a slab-column shear wall structure building has been designed by using the SLABCAD module in PKPM. The plate-column shear wall structure building is designed based on the selected frame construction building.2. The advantages of slab-column structure are presented. Referring to construction drawings of the buildings designed above, the direct project cost has been determined by using the Budget unit price method. Economic performance analysis has been made based on the comparison of the two buildings’direct project cost3. The pushover analysis of the two buildings is studied by using MIDAS/Building finite element software. The nonlinear element model of beam, column and shear walls used in the MIDAS/Building has been specifically described. The seismic response of the two building has been studied in three aspects:the calculated response, the distribution of plastic hinges and the internal force response. What is more, the comparison of their seismic behaviors has been made according to the seismic response.
