One of the most important elements of classical Chinese garden plants as "to createthe spirit of the second nature", Both have "means" and "the significance of form"--visual experience and cultural experience.With the development of modern design hasbecome the mainstream of the early twentieth Century, the cultural globalization isspeeding up, strengthened the convergence landscape design.In the design of modernlandscape plant design also gradually tends to a total of convergence, visual meansplant is strengthened, its cultural meaning is weakening.This paper tries to shake offthe shackles of ancient and modern, east two yuan framework, in order to startingfrom the plant itself, based on symbolic aesthetics, Gestalt psychology, try toscientific method, system and language more accurate, probing into and explanationof garden plant visual meaning and cultural significance.In this paper, the researchfrom four stages: the first stage, from the garden plants in visual form, form meanslevel, analysis the Suzhou classical garden plants, painting, sound interesting artisticspace, timing means four kinds of visual means;The second phase, from the gardenplant form of significance, cultural meaning, combined with poetry, allusion culturecase, analysis of the cultural significance of the classical gardens of Suzhou plant inthree areas, namely religious philosophy, poetry mood, folk customs;The third stage,the relation between visual meaning and cultural significance of landscape plants ofthe analysis, namely, the latter is the derivative, and both two-way effect.And analysisand preliminary concluded Suzhou classical garden to modern landscape plant designreference, rejection, open up the place;The fourth stage, in the first three stages on thebasis, combined with the excellent cases, studies the visual means of modernlandscape plants, namely space-time, painting, sculpture, and four kinds of means; toexplore the cultural significance of the modern garden plant in three areas, namely,metaphor, life philosophy, psychiatry memorial.
