Structural damage identification technology is currently difficult and hot issues in thefield of civil engineering studies. In this paper, residual force vector is used to the damageidentification of a plane truss and following aspects has been studied:Element stiffness contact matrix is built by matrix factorization and bars of the structureis replaced by element stiffness contact matrix, structural damage location is achieved withthe residual force vector method by constructing damage localization index which has a veryreliable accuracy.In order to improve computation efficient, the concept of substructure has beenintroduced. The method shift overall recognition into local recognition. In the substructureanalysis, interface displacement modal synthesis method is used to deal withthe’kerf’problem and the numerical simulation results show that this method has a highrecognition accuracy.In order to achieve the purpose of the match of measurement DOF and the theoreticalDOF, the improved Guyan condensation method is used to condensation off the level DOFwhich has solved the large errors problem that the produced by the Guyan condensation. Inaddition, simulation of noise is processed.Combined with the measured frequency of the test, in order to make the experimentalconsistent with the frequency theoretical as far as possible,the parameter of the thoreticalmodel is modified by adjusting the structural stiffness and numerical studies show that themeasured modal data used to identify a single injury after the second structural adjustment isvery effective.
